Unit One, titled Historical Processes deals with an effort to understand the historian's craft, the value of chronological order, the role of change and continuity in human experience, the process of rise and fall and of causation, and the presence of opinion, bias, and issues of interpretation in the study of history.
Unit Two, titled The Neolithic Revolution and The Creation of Cities, deals with an examination of the circumstances by which humans moved from hunting and gathering, to organized agriculture, to larger social economic, and political organization. Note that the details of life in ancient Egypt are used to clarify these ideas.
